I have been asked a few times lately – “What is Woven by Society?” Well, this is the best way I can describe it –
Woven by Society was a concept I started thinking about last year. By December I actually resigned from my job to follow my dream of creating Woven by Society. It was not easy to resign and leave the security of a job I had known for a long time, but it felt right. I wanted to do something I could be proud of and use all the skills that made me, me. Most importantly I wanted to do something I was passionate about. I wanted to create a community of women that could teach, learn, share, create and empower all through craft.
Woven by Society sells fabric, organises workshops, profiles story tellers (through their crafts), shares stories and provides inspiration.
As Woven by Society evolves it becomes clearer to me that it is all about the stories, (including mine). Craft is a great medium to share stories, traditions and cultures and have fun. I find it incredibly fulfilling and satisfying to sew, as I have made something unique and personal. I have chosen the fabrics, designs and trims and created a story through craft. Just like our stories, with craft, there are no wrongs.
I think that describes it as best I can…best of all I am proud of what I am doing and enjoying pushing my boundaries every day.
