This Sunday, I was featured in The Age and quite a few of the major Fairfax publications. It was (and still is) an absolute honour to be able to share my story. The article was titled – “I followed my Dream”, and retells 3 women’s stories of switching career to pursue a long-held passion. I am still amazed that I am able to do what I am so passionate about and hope this inspires others as well. I love what I do and am able to meet so many other passionate, inspiring women everyday. For the past 10 months Sarah Munnings and I have been developing an idea. Our idea has turned into reality and is now happening. We are developing Grow: A Creative Community in response to feedback from local artists and artisans. Our vision is to create a collaborative community hub, a flexible workspace and learning hub for creative businesses that do not fit the current flexible working arrangements due to the nature of their business and their flexible needs. Being in a community of crafters and makers and knowing this community already exists, we realised there is a lack of meeting/collaborative space of this kind in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. Welcome to Spring… (for those of us in the Southern hemisphere…) I am now 17 days into my #sewlongwinter challenge and enjoying it still. I am enjoying the creativeness and not being tied down to a plan (and after week one I did share these insights). For me this challenge is not about the sales, but sharing my creativeness and learnings along the way. I am trying new designs and fabrics and playing with different shapes and sizes.
