Weaving Stories through Craft – Rae

My sister bought this fabric in Bali over 17 years ago, before she had her four children.  It lay in a box in our parent’s spare room for years before I expressed and interest in using stashed fabric for quilting and other craft projects.  She gave it to me without hesitation, glad to get it out of the box!  I made a single bed quilt which was perfect for a young child, bright and snuggly.

This mat is crocheted from the left over fabric  as a companion to the quilt.  I posted the quilt and matching pillow case to my niece this year for her ninth birthday and my sister told me she put it straight onto her bed.  Hopefully she will take as much pleasure from the rug knowing her mum bought the fabric and her aunty made use of it.

Full circle.
