I create marbled papers. To create the papers, I float gouache paints on a carrageenan bath. To make the patterns, I manipulate the paints with skewers and combs and transfer the pattern onto paper. I would like to extend this to working with fabric. My background is in Maths and Chemistry, but I’ve always enjoyed creative activities such as sewing and doing crafts. Marbling combines all of these things. There is plenty of experimenting and problem solving and I get a great sense of achievement when I finally master a pattern.
