August 1st will be stuck in my head for quite a while! The Woven by Society website went live…what a year so far!
It is so easy to forget sometimes how much we have done. When I think back to the start of the year, I was both excited and nervous about what lay ahead for me, but I really had no idea about the steep learning curve I would be on. By the start of February I had created a business plan, enrolled in a blogging course, joined an etsy online group and joined another group called RadMind, which was a small group of amazing women all following their dreams.
This was all wonderful for the mindset and continued learning, but the logisitics of starting a business was another thing…
I had to get an ABN, create a business name (that wasn’t already being used), secure the domain name, get my branding organised, actually create some social media accounts, engage a web designer, open a business bank account, purchase a PO Box, think about web hosting and emails addresses…the logistics just kept coming. Every time I crossed something off my to-do list, another five things appeared.
It was (and still is) a completely new world to me – making connections in the community – Monash Women’s Business Network, Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Coalition (VIRWC) and the Opening Doors Community Leadership Program to name a few. In May I went to a retreat in Bali with some truly amazing women. It has been a fantastic year so far, and now the website is live I am taking the time to celebrate wins and achievements but also plan the next part – exciting times ahead!
